About Us

History

McFarlane Douglass & Companies is a family-owned landscaping and commercial decorating company with over 35 years of experience across Chicago.

Like many immigrant family businesses in the Midwest, we have humble roots. We started delivering plants from the basement of a Western Springs home.

Team

Many of our employees have been with us since the beginning. In an industry with high turn-over, we have dependable coworkers with decades of experience.

Besides our main background in horticulture, we utilize a diverse range of other expertise such as theater set design, graphic arts, engineering, carpentry, and architecture. Our diverse team is ready and excited to design your next project.

We are also certified by the City of Chicago as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE).

From award-winning green walls and Daley Plaza holiday trees, to affordable office plants, we are efficient and flexible. First, I worked for three other floral companies. Then, in 1984, I started the business in my parent’s basement. My father had come to this country with one suit and $600. My goal was to help my family.”
